After a time away I kind of forgot how awesome santa monica is. First of all, everything is walking distance. Me and my mom went to go watch my little sister read for mass, she’s an alter server now just like I used to be (more like how my mom forced me to be). Then walked up to the DMV to go get a california drivers license as well as register to vote (Obama all the way meng!)
And this was a unique santa monica moment. I got in line behind this interracial couple that were being all cute and affectionate. And then this gay couple got in line behind me and they were being all flirty and making fun of each other which was also really cute.
I didn’t think much of it at first, but then i started thinking that in the majority of the world, you wouldn’t see stuff like that happen. But in Santa Monica it was totally acceptable and nobody felt the least bit inclined to have to censor themselves in public.
Then I was walking back from signing up at the YMCA (I may not be competing next year but I gotta stay in shape!) it’s the same YMCA I used to work out at before my mom sent me to train with jimmy when I was 16. I was walking back on that same route I used to walk down more than 5 years ago, and happened to pass where I wrote my name in the concrete one day while walking back from a workout
I might have been gone for a while. But Santa Monica is still my home…

Ahhh. Santa Monica sounds like the home of “Live and Let Live”. I love seeing people busily living their own lives and not wasting time judging how others live theirs.

Aw, man. I was in Santa Monica all last week for work–and I even brought my gi, just in case! If I had known you were going to be there this week, I might have tried to rearrange my schedule.
